1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem during the course of a year.  That could be you or me.  Or it could be Patsy Palmer, Trisha or John Hannah, just some of those who appear in the new exhibition by photographer Brian Moody. 1 in 4 is a series of powerful black & white portraits of people who have experienced mental distress and seeks to challenge the prejudice and discrimination that surrounds one of society’s last taboos. The exhibition was commissioned by the
 mindout  for mental health campaign.

Celebrity images hang alongside portraits of Gerry from Sheffield and Emma from London. Accompanying the photographs are personal accounts of each person’s experience.
As Paul Merton says, “People don’t feel ashamed for having a broken leg, so why a mental illness?”
